ROCK BAND BOOT CAMP
During the school year, our 8-week sessions meet once a week for 2.5 hours. Each session culminates in an opportunity to perform at a local venue.
SEPARATE SESSIONS FOR KIDS AND ADULTS.
OPEN TO KIDS AGES 11-17
We organize students into bands of specific genres, taking into account each person’s musical interests and skill levels. After a meet-and-greet on day one we choose songs. Original songs are also encouraged, and can be considered by each band. Chord charts and arrangements for songs will be written with the guidance of instructors, specific parts will be taught, and practiced at each weekly meeting. These sessions will focus on learning the selected songs and individual parts, including vocal arrangements and harmonies, with effective dynamics. Two-thirds of the way through the session, students should have their parts and lyrics memorized. As the band begins to gel later in the session, another fun step is coming up with a band name.
In 8 weeks we develop arrangements that fit the group, learn our set of songs and prepare for our performance showcase. 8 weeks also allows the opportunity to work on individual parts at home. Students will be asked to practice at home each week. Final sessions are dedicated to refining the arrangements and adding tips on performance style. The elements of performance are incorporated into the final rehearsals, and everyone gets to rock out at the concert!
